This session provides a review of Incoterms® and how they apply to the importing and exporting logistics functions managed by supply chain professionals within an organization.
YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS WORKSHOP:
Incoterms® Basics for Supply Chain Professionals
Purpose:
The Incoterms® Basics for Supply Chain Professionals course reviews all 11 Incoterms® and applicable Articles (created and maintained by the International Chamber of Commerce) most commonly used by supply chain and logistics staff when exporting products internationally or procuring inputs or products from outside of Canada.
With shipping costs now at some of the highest levels in history and liability associated to exporting and importing involving much higher risk, it is important to understand how some Terms elevate a company’s potential risk, how certain delivery obligations can dramatically affect costs and how some shipping scenarios fit specific Terms better or worse than others.
The course will be connected to current ASCM training and provide points towards certification maintenance.
Objectives
This session will provide participants with a review of all 11 Incoterms with their applicable Articles as they relate to the most common responsibilities and tasks performed by supply chain professionals dealing with importing & exporting products internationally. Highlights include:
- A review of all 11 Incoterms®
- A review of the 10 associated Articles for Sellers & Buyers and their use
- Common shipping scenarios for each Term
- How Incoterms® increase or decrease risk for supply chain
- Best practices for including Incoterms® into contracts
