The presentation examines the strategic role of nearshoring in procurement, beginning with an overview of nearshoring’s key drivers, benefits, and recent trends.
Then, it explores critical strategic and financial considerations, such as decision costs, infrastructure needs, opportunity costs, and balancing regional benefits with global competitiveness. A case study of Canada provides insights into labor dynamics, productivity, transportation infrastructure, and market access advantages within the nearshoring context.


Jose M Dominguez, MBA, CSCP

Jose M. Dominguez is a senior procurement and supply chain executive with over 25 years of Canadian and international experience, spanning diverse industries such as Oil & Gas, Mining, Banking, and Automotive. During his career he has committed to procurement excellence, having successfully led large-scale Procurement projects and complex supply chain operations in Canada, Chile, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and other countries.
Throughout his career, Jose has driven significant cost savings and operational efficiencies, managing all aspects of Procurement Management, from purchasing and expediting to logistics and warehouse operations. He has generated and led sourcing, vendor management and risk mitigation strategies to consistently deliver impactful results, contributing to organizational success on a global scale.
Jose holds an MBA, is a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) and a member of ASCM Toronto Chapter. Being an avid linguist has enhanced his effectiveness in diverse cultural and business environments.
